Description:
Bill Nelson home from the water tower. Address 228 Center Street. The house was built in 1892 in the Queen Anne style architecture. It was owned by Walter Phillips (Lilie Phillips bought the property from Daniel Connor in 1891). In 1895 Dr. E.R. Perkins settled into the home and it is believed occupied until the 1920's. He also had his practice there.. (It's unclear whether he rented and/or owned the home the entire time he occupied it as the Oct. 16, 1903 Minnetonka Record states " Mrs. Julia Perkins (wife of Dr. E.R. Perkins) has purchased the Walter Phillips residence."). According to NWT in 1897 Walter Phillips and family moved into the house. 1978 Surveyor information: Date unknown Lilie Phillips sold the house to Olaf Lee (apparently Dr. Perkins rented it about this time) Surveyor information. In 1905 Olaf Lee sold it to Nicoline Farasand; 1916 E. A. Movius to widow Addie; ? Arthur Phillips; 1927 A. Phillips to Addie Movius: 1934 William Nelson purchased it from Addie Movius. W. Nelson had extensive rennovations to the house done by Lincoln and Horace Aldritt. A fireplace was installed, the outside tower was removed along with a dormer and porch. It was turned into a Colonial style house. In 1952 William Nelson sold it to John Gedney who sold it in 1967 to Warren and Judy Mueller. See house file for more information.
