Description:
Four people on Wild Goose Island. The two on the right side of the picture are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Reel the other two are unidentified. On the back of the picture: Ed Reel's mother owned Wild Goose Island and always flew the Confederate Flag.Later moved to the Ridge which she owned at Christmas Lake. Ed Reel Sr. arrived in 1879 from St. Louis. In 1881 he bought Wild Goose Island from Maj. Harrow who built a house on the island. In 1885 he plowed and grubbed; planted 600 vines, and enlarged each year until he had 4,000 vines at Christmas Lake.
