Description:
People posing in Native American costumes for the Excelsior Pageant. The 1st lady at left is Lizzie Clofer and the 4th lady standing from the right appears to be Mrs. Keyes. According to "Happenings Around Excelsior" the "Pageant of Minnetonka" in 1919 was presented four successive nights on the Excelsior Commons. It had more than 500 players and many horses and was a spectacular portrayal of local history. Written by Willard Dillman, the pageant progressed by means of scenes and tableaus, dialogue and narration from Indians and the first settlers through the Civil War. Before the last pageant performance the soldiers, sailors and marines of Hennepin County received an offical "Welcome Home" at a special concert by the Minnesota 151st Field Artillery Band directed by Lt. Michael Jalna. The pageant closed with a color guard running up the flag and the crowd singing the "Star Spangled Banner"
