Description:
Lake Park Hotel 1890. Built in 1879 by the Northwestern Sunday School Association. It was on 250 acres with nearly five miles of shoreline. It had a pavilion originally called the Lake Park Amusement Hall and included a theater and ballroom. In 1883, an ad ran for the "Grand Opening of the Roller Skating Rink." Around 1904, it was renamed the Tonka Bay Hotel and the pavilion was renamed the Tonka Bay Casino. The hotel closed in 1911 and was razed in 1913. The pavilion was still standing in Jan. 1920 when it was moved across the ice to a site near where the amusement park would be built. ("Lake Minnetonka's Historic Hotels")
