Description:
Dock and Boat house at the Del Otero, with the hotel in the background. James J. Hill opened the hotel isn 1885 three years after opening the Lafayette Hotel. It's location high on a hill overloooking Spring Park may have inspired it's name as "Del Otero" is Spanish for "on a knoll or hill". In 1906 Hill sold it to George F. Hopkins and Company. He maintained the hotel, the hotel's dance pavilion, ball park and it's picnic grounds until 1918 when Adam King became the proprietor. The hotel burned on July 4th, 1945.
